My name is James and I am a Body Shop Manager for a VW, Mazda, Audi, Porsche dealership up here in Maine. Learned how to buff and polish on a rotary buffer with wool pad at a young age (I am in my early thirties now). I am an experienced painter with training in high end restoration and custom fabrication. I love constantly learning new things and trying new methods while sharing the knowledge that I already have.
I received my formal training from WyoTech automotive voctaional college. I majored in Automotive Collision/Refinishing with an Associate Certificate in Automotive Business Management, and also minored in Chassis Fabrication/High Performance Engines, Street Rod and Custom Metal Fabrication, and Automotive Trim and Upholstery.
I have reading about anything automotive related ever since I was in elementary school. I always loved reading the how to articles in magazines like Hot Rod, Street Rodder, Super Chevy, and Sport Compact Car. I also always enjoyed drawing and designing cars.
When I am not running the shop, I can be found training and performing as a professional Ballet dancer. Two very different worlds indeed! But, I can see some similarities with detailing and ballet. In ballet you are always pushing yourself and trying to find perfection, whereas perfection does not exist. You are constantly chasing something that is not reachable, and still never settling for second best. In the words of the famous Mikhail Baryshnikov: "There is no best, but there is always better."
